First time tester question on Taylor K-2006 Chlorine Test

Hello All,

I just received my K-2006 kit and I have been reading the booklet & the testing instructions. I have 2 questions.

1. The first NOTE says, For 1 drop = 0.2 ppm, use 25 mL sample, for 1 drop = 0.5 ppm, use 10 mL sample.

I am confused as to what that above statement means? Does it mean if I use a 25 ml sample, I would get a more precise reading in increments of 0.2 ppm? vs in increments of 0.5 ppm?

2. The booklet on page 25 refers to using reagent R-0001 + R-0002 measures Free Chlorine, but I don't see any such bottle of agents, from what I infer, is R-0871 the equivalent of R-0001+R-0002?

Wow, to be honest I have never read that booklet as most folks say it's confusing.

#1, yes 25ml sample give you 0.2ppm vs 0.5ppm on a 10 ml sample. I always use a 10ml sample. 0.5 is close enough for most things.

#2, Two scoops R-0870 DPD Power in the 10ml sample, then count drops of R0871 to get FC at the 0.5 level

R-0001 and R-0002 are used in the DPD chlorine test. R-0870 and R-0871 are used by the FAS-DPD chlorine test. The DPD test is more common, though we don't recommend it. The booklet has some text that applies to DPD, even though it is not included in your specific test kit.

R-0001 and R-0002 are for the DPD chlorine test which are not part of the K-2006 which has the FAS-DPD test.
