    Adding CYA....

Hopefully this is a simple question...

I always see the recommendation of hanging CYA in a sock in front of a return and letting it dissolve. I did that the first time (this is our third summer with the pool). However, when I have added it since then, I always put it in a sock and hold it in front of a return and constantly squeeze it for about 10 minutes and it all dissolves pretty quickly. It never seems to be an issue, and I always hit my target. Is that an "acceptable" way to add it? I am a little impatient, so that is why I started doing it.

I see no problem with it as long as it isn't just forcing CYA dust out to settle in drifts on the floor.

    What brand dissolves that fast?
16K freeform gunite with spa; Pentair 4000 DE filter; Century Whisperflow 1 HP; Pentair Minimax heater.
Troublefree does not mean Maintenancefree. It's like brushing your teeth: You can spend a couple minutes a day and pennies a week or go to the dentist once a year and spend several thousand dollars.
A pool is like a pet - you have to feed it every day, even the days you don't want to play with it!
