To Paint or Not-Paint Bottom Rails and Plates

I purchased a used 18' x 48" steel wall pool. When taking it down I discovered that many of the bottom plates and bottom rails were pretty rusted. I looked around and found replacement parts and ordered all new. They are galvanized metal (which I assume the original ones were too,) and I am wondering about painting them with a rust inhibitor type of paint before assembling the pool.

Any suggestions or thoughts? Basically I'm thinking it will slow down the rusting, especially if I go with a salt water system.

I painted mine on my 20 yr old pool, also the uprights and top rails. May have been overkill but easy to do and looks good
