Solar cover reel install

Hi I just purchase this reel for my cover.

I did all the install but need to put the straps on the cover. There is this plastics plates and screws and that go threw the perforated strap and but do I need puncture the cover?

Great thanks just wanted to make sure before putting holes in the solar cover.
Should I take off the cover during the day even if no one is using it?

Many people say that removing the solar cover during the day and just letting the sun hit it, will heat your pool faster, I use my solar cover of a night time, to help retain the heat it caught during the day...
