    Pool Chemistry Questions

Need help from you chemistry wizards!!!

I test at home with my Taylor k2006, and also verify if I get strange results with my LaMotte color meter. I am also required to bring occasional samples to my PB store for my plaster warranty. So I will post both my results & pool store for today.

    Taylor K 2006.....................................Pool Builder/Store

    FC 4.5......................................................FC 4.63
    CC 0.......................................................TC 4.63
    PH 7.5.....................................................PH 7.7
    ALK 70 (25 ml Sample)...............................TA Input 81 (adjusted TA 60)
CH330....................................................... CH 175 (theirs is always lower than mine)
    CYA 60....................................................... CYA 64
    ............................................................ ... Copper 0.1
    ............................................................ ........Iron
    ............................................................ ....... Borates 0

I am going with my own PH. Did it 3 times.

1)I do not have borate test strips, stores here do not sell them, but tested for Borates at their store two weeks ago and Borates were 50. I didn't think Borates would just disappear unless we did a water change.??? I am suspect if their test is accurate. Guess I need to get strips online, any recommendations for brands?

2)Also. can anyone tell me the difference in adjusted TA? I thought that only applied if I had borates in the water?

3)Should I be concerned about that copper and iron? Thanks!!!

    Re: Pool Chemistry Questions

Trust your own results, and just ignore theirs.

    1) Borates can't possibly go from 50 to 0 without a complete water replacement. Their test simply doesn't work.
    2) Completely ignore adjusted TA, it is only used for one obscure calculation that no one ever does any more
    3) Copper/iron below 0.3 can be ignored.
