is Ph down better to use than muriatic acid to lower Ph? MA is so caustic id rather not mess with it. luckily, so far, I have not had to use any MA is the highest my pH has ever been was 7.9, and it came down by itself in 2 days. Is there anything bad about using pH down instead of MA?

Dry acid adds sulfates. At low levels sulfates are fine, but if you use large amounts of acid the sulfates build up and can damage plaster and SWG cell plates. Muriatic acid is much less expensive and doesn't add anything that could possibly cause a problem.
