Folding down old liner for bed.

I've had a couple of pool contractors look at doing the work for replacing our liner. One stated that he wanted to cut the walls of the old one into vertical strips to lay down flat, keeping it all as a bed for the new liner. It seems my wrinkly old liner would just make the bottom of a new one worse. Is this a common practice?

Thanks.

As Dave mentioned on both points, never heard of it and please change the location.

As far as using the old liner on bottom, I wouldn't do it because it'd probably cause trouble smoothing the bottom out. If the liner comes up or folds over while the new one is installed, you won't know til you have water = too late.
