level frame good enough for intex 16 foot round

Hi, I have been digging out a level spot for my Intex round pool. I am only removing, not adding any dirt. I have only had to remove about 5 inches at the worst point. I am going to make sure the frame is completely level, but does it matter if the inside of the circle is complete smooth and flat? Other than the pool bottom not being completely smooth, obviously.

I don't want to put sand down, I am just putting a tarp and the bottom of an old intex pool down over the earth, which is solid.
Thanks for any advice.

The bottom of the pool needs to be smooth and fairly even, but it doesn't need to be perfectly level. The frame needs to be level.

It will be easier to clean if the bottom was leveled and smoothed. Do you plan on sweeping the dirt out of your pool?

good point, i am planning to make it as smooth as possible but I am not too good at it

Well, you'll get a lot of practice from doing the whole bottom. The dirt will find every divot imaginable.
