I'm having trouble getting my chlorine generator working right. It's a Circupool RJ20, about a year and a half old. The "Add Salt/Water Fault" light turned on, so I cleaned up the metal plates and started adding salt to the pool. The light stayed on. I bought a TDS meter, and it's reading at 5500ppm. Should I call up CircuPool and ask about the warrenty? I think at this point, I'd have to pay 20% of the original cost to get it replaced.

Did you measure your salt PPM? TDS measure all dissolved solids, not just salt. Bring a sample to your local pool store or get the Taylor K-1766 salt kit.

You should measure your salt PPM to see where you are prior to adding salt. From there you can calculate how much salt you need to add, if any.
