    Sudden Pool Responsibility

    Hello Everyone!

I'm very glad to find this forum as I've suddenly (long story) become a pool owner. I have some very basic understanding of pool care but as I've found myself in a very urgent (green swamp) situation, I'm glad to find some support.

    Welcome!

The first rule of Algae Fight Club is: Don't trust the pool store tests reults; get your own kit.

Troublefree does not mean Maintenancefree. It's like brushing your teeth: You can spend a couple minutes a day and pennies a week or go to the dentist once a year and spend several thousand dollars.
A pool is like a pet - you have to feed it every day, even the days you don't want to play with it!

The only way you will win is by investing in a good test kit and taking control of your pool. The two things you need to do are (1) Get a good test kit and (2) SLAM your pool, in that order. While you are waiting the 2-3 days for one of the good test kits to be delivered, use that time to stock up on plenty of liquid bleach (the plain, unscented variety).

A good test kit is an investment, not an expense.

Welcome to TFP. If you have not seen the test kits yet, please look here Test Kit Comparison. You do not have to lose this battle if you arm yourself with a reliable test kit you can trust (TF100XL) and the informational links in Pool School to get you through the process of clearing your pool and then maintaining it. All the information is here waiting for you to absorb it in your own time. Good luck with your pool.
I'd bet you my bikini you'll never get TFP water from a pool store!
