Cascade is phosphate free - should I get tsp?

I noticed most of the auto dish detergents are phosphate free. Does this make them less effective. They are definitely a cheaper alternative to tsp.

Short answer is yes it does, but phosphate has been banned in detergents in several states now, so many of the national brands have decided to reformulate nationwide

Modern phosphate free dishwasher detergent works well enough, but if you can find real TSP that is better. Watch out though, there is a product that is prominently labeled as TSP, but is actually a phosphate free alternative that is inferior to dishwasher detergent.
