Does SWG require full-time power

Preparing to install my first SWG. Going with a CircuPool model. Installation instructions are limited in my opinion. From what I can tell, I want to hook up the SWG to the same circuit as my primary pump. This is through a Hayward OnCommand if that matters. Can I just "piggy back" off the load side of the pump terminals? This would result in the SWG getting power when my pump does (based on my timer settings). But the SWG would not have power when the pump isn't running. Is this correct? How does the system remember settings? And finally, I'm assuming I can then turn on the pump (powering the SWG as well), but then turn off the SWG at it's own panel (when adding salt for example). Thank you in advance-
