Do I need to drain my pool all the way to replace a couple of the vertical leg supports?

the legs are rusted-I have 2 new ones just don't know the best way to get them out of there-should I dig around the bottom to get more space?

I would drain the pool to be on the safe side. If you start digging in and around the support legs, you may knock it off level.
