Possible to simply cut a new hole for the skimmer/ return?

Hi,

We installed a new (to us) above ground pool last year and are thinking after the cool summer last year that we might like a heater. When we put the pool in, it made sense to us to put the pump at the point furthest away from the house. In hindsight maybe not such a good idea after looking at the cost of running gas line and/or hose. We live in an area that heavily treed so digging the required depth for hoses/lines is prohibitive. So, we are thinking of moving the pump and skimmer to the end of the pool closest to the house (gas source). Is it possible to simply cut a new hole in the pool and move everything? Pros/ cons?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi shnick! Well, I've never done it but it is possible. The thing is finding a way to cut the new skimmer box opening and hole for the return. You could use a piece of sheet metal and a pop rivot gun to patch the other holes and line it with dyct tape when done. You'll probably have to replace the liner too.
