UV Pool

Is this an indoor pool that is using UV to help control chloramines? If it's an outdoor residential pool, there should be no need for UV since the UV in sunlight provides a lot more and when chlorine breaks down in sunlight it produces hydroxyl radicals that are powerful oxidizers.

A client of mine has just purchased a house, she was told by the previous owners it is a UV light pool. I am guessing it has a UV light built into the plumbing to kill organisms. Just looking for some advice from the board for opening and care.

UV systems has little to no positive effect on outdoor pools. For indoor pools they can be very handy at keeping CC levels under control (CC is far more of an issue with indoor pools). In both cases the UV system may or may not have the effect of slowly but constantly breaking down some of the chlorine. How rapidly it breaks down chlorine depends on the exact spectrum and intensity of the UV source, but it is generally a small effect.

Nothing quite like the EXPENSIVE ease of mind!
Thanks for the input.
