Replacing liner: regular vs. expandable

I have a 28'x48" doughboy with a 12" dished out center. The 18 year old liner finally gave out over this winter, and we will be replacing it ourselves. My question is: can I use a regular liner vs. expandable, since the dish out is only 12" deep? Anyone with experience or knowledge regarding this? Thanks!

I'd get the expandable to be on the safe side.

I'm thinking a 12" dished center will need more material just in case. They can trim the overlap and keep it for patches.
