We opened pool today. Clear water and used new Taylor test kit with more success than I anticipated. The how to videos really helped! Problem: bad leak in the PVC connection to the auto chlorinator, looks like a crack in threads which are part of chlorinator. Currently have it wrapped with plastic to slow leak but going to need repair ASAP. Question: should we get rid of the chlorinator if it has to be replaced since we aren't using it anyway since switching to trouble free method? Or do we keep it in case we ever want to use pucks to go on vacation? Not sure what chlorinator would cost or even if our pool construction company would let us by pass that piece of equipment. And no, my husband does not have the tools or knowledge to repair it himself. Any helpful opinions appreciated!
