Borax and Baking Soda shelf life?

we always talk about bleach shelf life, what about soda and borax? I have an open box of 20 Mule Team Borax on a shelf in the pool shed from last season. Is it still good?

Also, like bleach, is it that the soda and borax lose their strength over time or break down or what?

While we are on shelf life topic, im assuming the bottle of HTC Stabilizer from last year that was kept sealed is still good for awhile.....

If kept dry, I would think the powders will last a very long time and should be fine.

Borax will clump, but it won't go bad, and neither will baking soda. The clumpy borax is very slow to dissolve, and I suggest discarding the clumps and going with new to make up the difference.
