New owner help

Opened my pool for the first time with the help of a friend. Everything went fine but this morning I turned off the pump to see how much was in the basket. When I turn it back on it seems to be working but the water empties out and doesn't appear to be pulling in water.

First, make sure the lid is tight and the O-ring is in good shape.

Fill us in a little on your pool and pump details.
