Small VS pump choice?

Hi, Im looking to replace my pump/filter this summer and trying to decide what makes the most sense.
Existing old pump is a Hayward 1 hp. (motor replaced once)

1- Pentair superflo VS with a CC150 filter

2- Hayward superpump VS with existing Hayward 120 filter cartridge or, new 175

*existing is 15years old and want to go a VS to save some energy. (electric is 18cents)

I know I have to change to 230v and change the swap out or upgrade the rusty intermatic control box...
Anybody use these or have any programming experience, looks easy but, I cant find any user reviews online....
Timers needed? Any ideas?

BTW, pool is approx 11K with 1 1/2 pipes. Solar and spa spillover. Thanks!

Yes, an external timer is required. The pumps will only switch speeds at specific intervals but they will not turn on and off at specific times.

Both are good designs and I wouldn't hesitate to get either one. The MaxFlo has an edge in efficiency and has a better price.
