Hey all! Just opened the pool, water looks great and is crystal clear...for now. We opened it Sunday, kids swam, just tested water this am:

FC: 1
CC: 0
PH: 7.5
CYA: >20
Water Temp: 63

My question is...do I shock first or add CYA first? As, I will have to brush and backwash a lot as I am shocking, I know I shouldn't backwash for a week after adding CYA. But, I know I need CYA to keep my FC stable, lol? I feel like it's a catch 22, what should I do first? Thanks in advance!!!

There is no need to SLAM if the water looks good, no CC, no visible algae, and it can hold chlorine overnight.

Start adding CYA today. You can add it using the sock method to eliminate the backwashing issue.

FC at 1 is good enough for the moment. Add 2 ppm of chlorine this evening after sunset, then go back to normal chlorine additions tomorrow.
