If algae is present, will the walls be slimy? I didn't have any slime on the walls. I opened my pool 3 weeks ago. Water was clear and levels were good. Then a day after opening, we received 8 inches of rain and our back yard flooded and a river of mud got in the pool. I finally got the mud out, but now the water is an cloudy emerald color. I do have the TF-100 kit and will check my levels before I begin the SLAM. I've added several jugs of bleach but it didn't do much. I hope to get this mess cleaned up soon.

Today I added stabilizer in a sock in the skimmer to elevate the CYA levels. I know the FC was 7 and the CYA was 0 this past Sunday. Once the CYA level gets up to 60, I'll add the appropriate chlorine. Jason, Thanks for the quick reply.
You might wanna just got to 30 for cya until you get it SLAMmed. Less bleach. Then take it up for your SWG.
Any chance you got some lawn fertilizer washed into the pool? That stuff will really fuel an algae bloom, and a lot of it has iron, which will make the water yellow-orange, which appears green against the normal blue color of the pool.
Great question Richard. I hadn't fertilized before the massive rain storm. But the run off did come from several yards elevated from my yard. But by looking at their yards, they don't fertilize. I have zoysia, so I dont fertilize until late April early May.
