26' Intex & Hayward skimmer- does liner tear over time? skimmer support needed?

About to bite the bullet and install the in-wall skimmer. There is concern the skimmer needs to be supported in some way to prevent the liner from tearing.

Can anyone comment?
How long have you had your skimmer, and have there been any issue?

Hi Karen. I've been here awhile now and have yet to see a skimmer collapse, fall, tear, malfunction from an Intex pool modification. I'm sure anything is possible but most of the modifications have been pretty successful.
