Fire Ant - and lots of them!

I use Talstar (liquid concentrated, not granules) in a pesticide sprayer and spray my yard about 3 times a year. I use about 1 oz of concentrate per gallon of water and cover about 2000 square feet. The product is used more of as a preventative for fire ants, chinch bugs, palmetto bugs, termites, etc. It will eventually kill these pests as it leaves a residue that is good for 60+ days. Once the product dries, it is safe for dogs (maybe not cats). We also use half the above concentration inside the house for roach and ant control, spraying in corners, closets and in the garage. It is a pretty good product but not too effective on German cockroaches. (They require a special gel). Fire ants are very persistant and will take residence in the palm trees or places where I can't get to with the sprayer.
