Pentair MasterTemp Release Valve?

This is a little off subject, but just had a Pentair MasterTemp NG 250HD installed. PB did not install a high pressure release valve on the unit, is this something that definitely is required, or just highly recommended? Thoughts?
 
Per the manual, "Canadian code requires and some U.S. local codes may require installation of a pressure relief valve (PRV). " So if it is not required by your local codes, then no need to worry.
