how can that be?

What did PoolMath say it would do? That does not sound like much in your big pool.

But, why are you raising the TA? It is already on the high side.

2 pts (by volume) of baking soda will raise TA by 6 in 30,000 gallons. The test reads to the nearest multiple of 10, so it is very easy for an increase of 6 to not show up on the test. If you meant 2 lbs (by weight) that will raise TA by less than 5, so it is even less likely to show on the test.
