Stenner injection fitting vs check valve

The injection fitting connects the hose coming from the Stenner to the main plumbing, injecting acid/chlorine/whatever into the main water flow. A check valve prevents water from flowing backwards, from the water pipe back into the Stenner.

As Jason said, the injection fitting is just an open threaded fitting that allows you to connect the tubing from the pump to the pool plumbing. Since it's basically just an open tube it doesn't have any back flow checking ability.
