    Pool returns.....matter which direction?

Hi everyone.....Happy Easter. Brand new here and 2nd season as a pool owner. Wondered if there was an optimum angle to circulate, particularily for solar heat. I have two returns - thought maybe down to heat the deeper water?
    Thanks

    Welcome to TFP!

You want to aim the returns to create a consistent water motion, usually in a circle around the pool. One return should be aimed down and to the side so it sends water towards the bottom of the deep end and also supports the circular movement. That will promote mixing with the deeper water. The other should be just towards the side. Fiddle with them until you get a consistent movement that drives debris into the simmer (even if slowly).

    Welcome!

It's gonna be trial and error. Mixing up and warming the deep end vs strong skimming action on top. In your situation, I'm not sure that there's a wrong way to do it.

If it helps, what I do with mine is one pointed down and to the side a bit, the other pointed to where it helps the prevailing wind drive surface crud to the skimmer.
