    Ecosmart pool heater

I searched but could not find any information on the Ecosmart tankless Electric pool heater. Has anyone out there used one? I cannot do solar and my gas line is on the other side of our home. I am looking to just heat a few degrees in spring to get an early start swimming. It seems like that span between 76 and 82 degrees lasts forever. Thanks!

Did you review the power requirements?

Yes I did. My pool equipment is right next to our electric panel so hookup should be easy. I need to calculate the run cost but I plan to only heat 3 or 4 degrees.

The cost to heat a pool with electricity makes my bones shiver. I don't have the math at my fingertips but you will pay an astonishing price for just that 3-4 degrees, I'm afraid.

Maybe I should bite the bullet and buy a heat pump.

The EcoSmart heater is a resistive electric heater, less than 1/4 as efficient as a typical heat pump. And even with a heat pump, heating a pool can get expensive.

How efficient is gas compared to a heat pump? I would do gas but it will cost quite a bit to run a gas line 75 feet. Maybe the cost savings would pay for it.

In much of the country it costs less to heat with gas, but the difference isn't usually very large. However, this does vary from region to region a fair bit.
