Questions about start up.

My sand filter has been empty all winter and I was wondering if I need prime it before I start the pump. I have never started my pool myself so this is new. I drained it and disconnected all the hoses. just some advice on starting would be great! water is clear but there is some sediment at the bottom of the pool. cleared the small amount of leaves I had in there out. pool was covered all winter. gonna add some water to the bottom of the skimmer then test to see where she is sitting chemical wise.

Every spring, I fill the sand filter with water before assembling the multiport and firing it up. In theory, I don't think there would be anything wrong with starting it dry (though I have been wrong before), but I don't like the idea of high pressure water shooting down on an unsubmerged sand bed.
