Oh oops, one too many "pools" in the title.

Do any of the pool tech classes/seminars teach any of TFP philosiphy in their certification programs? Do they teach to drive chemical sales for manufacturers and retail stores? I'd liked to know the viewpoint of the certification boards(are there many?) regarding pool care.

thanks, Brian

Yes, the National Swimming Pool Foundation® Certified Pool Operator (CPO)® Certification Program is excellent. Even though they don't teach some of what is taught here, they mostly get things right in the course and it's probably the best one out there. Taking the course and augmenting with the information in the thread that Richard linked to and also the info in the Pool School would be pretty thorough and complete. Of course, for residential pool owners there's not much need for the certification, but for commercial/public pool operation it is not only desirable but in some states or counties it is required.

I don't think the CPO® course is biased towards manufacturers. It's more that it sticks with some traditional information taught in the pool/spa industry some of which is incomplete or in a very few cases incorrect.
