dedicated Spa Jet pump, waterway jets

I would like to use 10 waterway poly storm jets in the spa with 10GPM each, so 100GPM.

According to Hydraulics 101,
I would need perhaps a 3" suction and 3" return (or 2 2.5" return spa loops)
It seems I might be at 16' of head, plus pump and jets.

Hard to figure out jet head loss but I saw a thread that mentioned waterway and said 35' head loss.

Based on all this it seems like a dedicated 2HP pump might be fine?

Any reason to go with VF or VS for a spa jet pump?

Anyone have any experience with the triple jet assemblies from waterway jets?

The better variable speed pumps use permanent magnet motors, which have a slightly better inherent efficiency than a regular pump, and so save on electrical costs. Since you are in CA, and have high electrical costs that might make a VS worth it if you plan to use the spa quite a lot. The other advantage of a VS pump is that you can dial in exactly how much jet action you want to have. With a single speed pump you just hope you calculated everything correctly.
