will adding muriatic acid protect my FC like CYA

I have a 20,000gal pool with a SWG that I was planning to clean with muriatic acid(the cell not the pool). My friend was told to just dump the left over acid it into the pool. When I tested after being covered all winter I had 10 ppm FC, PH 7.4, CCs 0, and CYA was 0. The water temperature was 57 Deg so I know the CYA would be a little off but I can't figure out where the Acid went. After opening it up for a few days FC dropped to approx. 2 ppm so I can safely assume that my CYA is truly low. So to my question. If I add the muriatic acid to the pool after removing the scale from the SWG cell will it help protect the FC from the sun or do I need to add the CYA and adjust the ph with Baking soda.

Thank you in advance.
