Using Too Much Chlorine

I've started using a little over 2 ppm per day of chlorine. This started about 3 weeks ago.
That's up from .5 ppm (or less) a day before Winter.
My temps are 40 something at night and 70's during the day.
I just measured CYA and got 50, 40, 50 with three tests.

Pool is clean with a few leaves getting into it each day. I keep them cleaned up.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Sounds normal since the sun is becoming more intense. A loss of 2-3ppm per day is pretty typical.

In fact one of the mods in Texas said he loses 4ppm in the summer with a CYA of 60ppm.

Chlorine usage is greatly affected by water temperature. If the water has been warming up recently, that all make sense. If you water temperature is still down below 50 degrees then something strange is going on.

Thanks guys. I won't worry about it.

As a side note:
I started BBB in September with a CYA of zero.
I added 4 lbs of CYA- using the sock etc.
I could never read over 20 ppm, even after a couple of months wait. The pool store tested it and also tested 20.
Today I tested in for the first time in months with good, solid 40-50 ppm readings.

Odd, but I'm going with the 40-50 readings.
