We have a small inground pool. 14x28, oasis shaped. 6' deep end and 3' shallow end. We want to get a NG heater and I was wondering if I could use a 100k or 125k "above ground" heater. Like I said, it's a small pool and I'm not concerned about how long it takes to get to temp. Thanks

You should be able to hook up any heater if you really want to, but if you undersize the heater, it will be very inefficient and cost you a fortune in fuel.
An aboveground heater is fine on an unground pool.
You might need to install a bypass around the heater if your pump is larger than what the heater is rated for, but that is simple enough. It is actually more trouble figuring out if you need a bypass than it is plumbing in the bypass.
Heaters do tend to cost way more to run than most people are expecting, but a small heater isn't less efficient than a large one, it just won't be able to raise the temperature as quickly or maintain as large a temperature difference as a larger heater would.
