    Check Valve Needed???

Hello, I been having a lot of plumbing problems with my newly installed in ground pool.

The Pool is indoors and has its own pump room in the basement.

I have a Sand filter, pump, Jandy salt system and Hayward pool heater. Do I need to have a check valve between the heater and salt system? I have read that no I dont need one and I have also read I do.

The pump is on a timer, and so is the pool heater. The pool heater will shut off about 15 min before the pump which will allow the water to be cycled through a little while longer.

Do I need a check valve between the pool heater return line and the salt water system? I am leaning towards NO!!

    Thanks,

    Bruce

Not usually since the SWG should only be generating when the water is flowing away from the heater.

Running or not running, your pool should be fine without checks.

Since you are below water level, do you have shut-off valves so you can open the pump basket to clean?

Yes I have a shut off valve right before the pump and will be installing one on the return line also.
