Screenlogic 2 - Why so expensive?

Hi everyone,

I'm relatively new to pool ownership and am looking to automate my Pentair system. Have been advised that I need Screenlogic2 (#520500) but it kills me that it's $350++. Other than the massive markup, any ideas on why such a simple device is so expensive? Relatively speaking, I can buy a laptop or iPad for a touch more than that!

The price is what it is because people will pay it for the "high-end" capability.

Personally I see no need to have wireless control of my pool. Seems easy enough to me to walk over the the equipment and either turn the valves I want or push the buttons on the automation to do what I want.

BTW, there is a 3rd party system that may do what you want. "Autelis" or something like that. Try searching the forum for Pentair automation or something.

Why do you feel Screenlogic 2 is better than Autelis?

I was leaning towards Autelis because it can be integrated with my home automation system +$100 cheaper.

The Screenlogic2's remote access of the pool, and the quality of the web or computer interface screens.
