I am a long time lurker and first time poster, I have learned just about everything from you guys! I have an in ground pool and spa that are connected by a waterfall. When the spa was turned on I found that it was emptying to the pool. I closed the valve on this thing and it solved the problem. It seems to still be leaking a bit and I was thinking about just plugging it up rather than trying to tighten the valve. Do you guys think that this is a good idea? Thanks!

I don't see an arrow anywhere but I think you guys might be right.
If it's a check valve, you could probably do a neat looking fix by unscrewing both valves (assuming the are both threaded) and then connecting back straight across with pvc pipe
