Startup after drain and acid wash

Greetings,

We just drained and acid washed the pool. Need to know what i need to add to get the water in balance. Our typical TA and PH from the tap is 220 and 8.2 respectively. I use trichlor for sanitizer, so do i need to add CYA to startup the pool?

What test kit are you using? You need one of the Recommended Test Kits if you want to understand and balance your pool.

Have you read much of Pool School? I would highly suggest starting with these:

Using trichlor is not a long term solution especially in an area where the pools are not partially drained for the winter.

You will certainly want to get some CYA in the water (and then not use tablets). And you will certainly need muriatic acid to lower the pH (and slowly the TA). Whether you need to adjust the CH is unknown due to lack or results.

Why did you need an acid wash? Did you have calcium scaling as a result of high CH and high ph?
