    lowering pH

    pH 7.8
    FC 3.5
    CC .5
    TA 80
    CH 400

The pH looks like it is trying to creep up. How much M acid do I need to add?

    Re: lowering pH

Based on Jason's Pool Calculator, to lower your pH from 7.8 to 7.4 would take appx 25 ounces of 31.45% muriatic acid.

Save a copy of Jason's Pool Calculator to your computer and just play with it until you feel comfortable

    Re: lowering pH

When making PH changes it is best to try a smaller amount of chemical than the Pool Calculator recommends. PH calculations are always estimates, every pool is a little different, and none of the measurements are all that precise. To allow for that, use about 2/3rds of the recommended amount, wait an hour or two with the pump running, test again, and adjust from there.

Once you get more familiar with your pool, you will have a sense of how for off and in which direction the Pool Calculator tends to be.
