Algae in Bubble?

Ok, don't yell at me....first legit post

I have yet to get "pool schooled", but did notice this and wanted to raise it before doing anything else. I also searched and couldn't find an answer, probably because I don't know the terminology.



In the picture, I've circled a little glass/hard plastic bubble. It's attached to my Pentair D/E filter. That bubble has a bunch of algae in it. The pool looks clear and the PH seems fine. Wondering if that's an indicator that the filter needs to be flushed or if it's something more serious.

Any thoughts/suggestions for this newbie???

That is the sight glass for when you backwash. It's just stagnant water, but it's not co-mingling with your pool water. It'll make it hard to see when you're done backwashing, but otherwise, no harm.

With the pump shut off, unscrew it and rinse it out in the sink so you can see to backwash.
