New build. Going with Chlorine, auto feeder needed??

I'm just getting into my pool build. I am going with Chlorine (no SWCG). Do I need an auto feeder of some sort or is this for the tablets only ???

Most of us just dump the bleach in by hand. There are automated feeders for liquid chlorine. Here's a thread to get you started: http://www.troublefreepool.com/threa...-Chlorine-pump

If you use the search box for liquidator or peristaltic, you'll find lots more.

Troublefree does not mean Maintenancefree. It's like brushing your teeth: You can spend a couple minutes a day and pennies a week or go to the dentist once a year and spend several thousand dollars.
A pool is like a pet - you have to feed it every day, even the days you don't want to play with it!

That's how I add my bleach. Doesn't take long to dump a quart in there.

I've always wondered about the phrase, "just dump the bleach in by hand." It may sound stupid, but are you literally adding the bleach directly into the pool?

Yes. With the circulation in the pool it mixes fairly quick.

At the size your listing you're a candidate for either a pump or the LQ (liquidator), However I prefer the injection pump over the LQ, but that's a personal preference.

Absolutely! I simply pour it slowly in right in front of the return in the deepend.

With a Vinyl liner pool, do you have to be careful where you pour it so you don't fade/bleach the pool liner? I would imagine a high concentration of bleach hitting one spot of the liner might be harmful??

If you pour slowly in front of a return jet in the deep end (if you have one) as we recommend, then there is no concern. I quick run if the brush afterward can ensure nothing pooled on the bottom.

I usually lower the jug of bleach into the pool so the spout is about an 1" above the water and pour slow. No splashes to get on clothes, liner or skin. I do acid the same way to lower PH.

You can always get one of those cute little Duck puck holders to float around and put in a few while away for the weekend or on vacation. Cheaper than a built in tab feeder----and cuter!

    Yes. That's why we say
Bleach should be added to the pool by pouring slowly in front of a return jet with the pump running. You should pour slowly enough that pouring an entire jug takes more than one minute, preferably two minutes. Leave the pump running for at least 30 minutes after adding bleach.

It's funny in a morbid kind of way when someone posts here that they listened to the pool store experts and scattered some miracle powder on the surface of the pool, it settled to the bottom, and now their liner is freckled.

Just wanted to state that I don't "dump" my bleach in. I pour it slowly in front of the return.

It was just a jest !
