Hello all

Thanks for this great resource. I am already learning quite a lot already.

We are located in Perth Western Australia and I thought I would post up my first set of results that have been completed with my newly imported Taylor test kit for the enlightened folks on this website to take a look at and give any advice.

Being a relatively new pool owner (just over 12 months) I think that these results seem to be okay, but I stand to be corrected.

Your Combined Chlorine (CC) of 1 indicates that there is something in the water that the Free Chlorine (FC) is in the process of breaking down. This can happen even if your water looks clear. Therefore, I would recommend that you SLAM the pool as outlined here: http://www.troublefreepool.com/content/125-slam-shock-level-and-maintain-shockingl.

The rest of your numbers look OK, but I would suggest adding some information about your pool in your signature (in particular the pool surface material, water volume, and whether it is manually chlorinated or SWG)

I agree with Bo. With a CC of one you need to SLAM the pool.

Do you have a SWG ? If you don't your CYA is a little out of range for a non SWG pool.

Thanks guys looks like I'm slamming my pool tomorrow.

No SWG here just an automatic chlorinator.

Yes my CYA is a little high but the pool gets heaps of sun. I am happy with it being anywhere from 30-70.

Great ! Sounds like a plan.

Your CYA is now at the top of the range that you think is ok. So that means you can no longer use tablets in your automatic chlorinator and need to switch to liquid chlorine.

Hardness 150
CC 0.5
FC 12
PH 7.5
TA 125
CYA 50

Does the hardness really matter in a fibreglass pool?

Apart from that any recommendations?

I know the CH matters to help protect the gelcoat of a Fiberglas pool.

Everything else looks ok. Just wanted to ask why your FC is that high ?

It goes well just have to work out what the optimum dosing level is.

At the moment it sits on 650 for chlorine which seems to have it sitting a little on the high side

Well I seem to have it under control now latest test reads:

Hardness 225
CC 0
FC 8
PH 7.4
TA 125
CYA 60

With the chlorine left at the higher level.

Seems to be okay at the moment, now to keep this beast under control!
