    please help identify electrical box...

I am in contract on a house and I am trying to figure out what this is... It is located right next to the pool pump power box. Any insight would be appreciated. Please see pictures.

What is that box hooked to?
It looks like a swg controller, but could be something else.

All the RF coils on the left side of the circuit board seem to indicate it may be a wireless controller of some kind. The Regency name is used by a company that makes wireless controlled fireplace inserts, but the logo appears slightly different. Maybe an earlier product line or different division, or is there a gas fireplace nearby?

The box is attached to the side of a wall and its wires do not connect to any of the pool equipment.. There is also an inline chlorine tab dispenser so I dont think its an SWG..

There is not a gas fireplace to my knowledge. I have attached a few more pictures of the inside of the box. Thanks.

Hopefully someone will come along that knows, but it's a puzzle to me.

Other than a relay control I don't know what it is.

The available information from the pictures is Regency Model LMR-3001 (Serial Number 537-0004023) Rain Tight Enclosed Energy Management Equipment. This seems to match this post from Businessweek.

Regency Technologies, Inc. produces very high frequency (VHF) and ultra high frequency (UHF) radio switches to control air conditioners, water heaters, pool pumps, heat strips, capacitor banks, and irrigation pumps in the field. It offers LMR series radio switch, a VHF and UHF FM radio load management receiver switch.....

It specializes in the electric utility load control or load management market. The company serves electric utility residential customers, as well as commercial and industrial customers of the utility. Regency Technologies, Inc. was incorporated in 1998.

It appears that Regency was acquired by Corporate Systems in August of 2009.

I would guess that is an energy management controller installed by your power company. Do you have any other energy management devices around the house? I would contact Corporate Systems or your power company to ask them.

Can you post a picture of the box and all of the equipment together in one picture?

Re: please help identify electrical box...

It looks like there are three relays that are remotely controlled by a radio transmitter. I'm not sure if the transmitter would be on the property, or farther away.

One relay is rated for 240 volts 30 amps or 120 volts 1 H.P. That probably goes to the pool pump. The other two relays are rated 120 volts at 5 amps. I'm not sure what they would go to.

I think that the most likely reson for the equipment would be to allow the electric provider to shut off the pool pump during times of peak demand to allow them to more effectively control the overall demand. Utilities can use remotely activated switches to shut off high demand, but non-critical, equipment in bulk across many customers to help balance out loads, improve efficiency, reduce overloading etc.
