Cartridge filter sizing

I currently have a sand filter system with a single speed pump and I'm making the switch to a variable speed pump with a cartridge filter system. My question is what size filter do I need? Gpm? Sq feet?
I have a 24,000 gallon pool with a SWG,

With a 24,000 gallon pool, I suggest something in the 400 sqft range.
