Joining PVC Pipe

I will be re-plumbing my pool pump and filter in the Spring. I will be using PVC cement and I understand I am supposed to use primer - which is purple - prior to using the cement. I hate the way it looks on the white PVC pipes when it squeezes out of the joints. Is there such a thing as a clear primer - or is there a substitute for the purple primer?

I know I am picky but my pump and my filter are in plain sight so I want the install to look as professional as possible.

Thanks!

Although some solvent is also blue ... of course does not really matter what color it is ... kind of a good idea to spray paint all the PVC pipes anyway (says the guy who redid his pad plumbing almost 2 years ago and has yet to paint it  )

EDIT: Also make sure to use a universal CPVC / PVC solvent if you are attaching to any of the black CPVC valves.
