First Test = bad...

CH = 260 (I don't believe this is actually accurate.. it went from pink to more of a purple instead of red to a blue ran the test twice)
CYA = 0 (Ran the test three times with two different samples... The black dot started getting foggy at 20 but you could still it at the top of the vial)

Going to start by adding 2 gallons of bleach. I'll also buy some Baking soda while I'm out today but am hoping for some advice before I add it..


pool is 26000 according to the guy I had come out and quote me a plaster job.
 
You DO NOT need Baking Soda.

Read "The ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry" up in Pool School.

Using PoolMath, purchase enough CYA to get to 40 ppm. Test a week later.

Next, add the chlorine. 2 gallons is a bit much....put in 1.5.

What does your water look like? Where do you live?
