What speed should my pump be running when checking pressure? If I'm running it slower it's at 12 psi... full speed almost 30! Thx

The important thing to do is pick a speed and use it every time you check the pressure. There's no set speed to use, but I'd pick something like 2500 rpm and use that each time.
The key is to be able to differentiate a 20-25% rise.
Mine on low barely registers on the gauge, so I do my checks on high speed.
If you have a pressure reading of 12psi on low, then you could probably even just use that speed and watch for it to rise to about 15 psi.
