Draining to lower Cyanuric Acid

I'm draining a pool to lower extremely high Cyanuric Acid levels.

I've heard it's bad to completely drain a pool.

How much can I drain it safely when doing a partial drain?

Depends on pool surface type, ground water level, and ambient temperature. Plaster and fiberglass pools can "pop" out of the ground if the ground water level is high and vinyl liner pools can "float". Also, in hot weather plaster pools surfaces can crack. For vinyl pools, assuming you do not have high ground water levels, you should be able to drain down to 1 foot depth in the shallow.
