What pump to drain pool for winter?

I have an above ground pool and live in Illinois.
Need to lower the water level for winter, however I don't want to drain it manually.

What pump should I get to do this?
Cost is a factor, however speed is not a big issue. Would prefer to spend around $100 or under, but can spend more.

A small, submersible pump would be a good choice. You could rent one from Home Depot or Lowe's, or buy one from Harbor Freight.

    Here's one from Menards:

Or you could also try siphoning the water out with a garden hose:

    Welcome to TFP!!!

With an above ground pool, I am not understanding why you want a pump and not to just siphon the water out with a garden hose?

As mentioned above rent one for $20-30 per day, or buy a cheap harbor freight pump for $40-$60 depending on sales.

I could try the siphon method. Never done it before.
